I thought that I would take a moment to tell you all a little bit about myself. I am married to a WONDERFUL man (Rob) and have 3 amazing kids. Terra is 20 yo and is out on her own. Tyler is 18 and lives with his dad. Emily will be 13 in December and is the only one of the kids that still lives at home with us. I am not a stay at home mother, I have a full time job that sometimes gets me in trouble with hubby because I tend to put in long hours. I started using coupons 2 years ago when I noticed how much money my sister Jamie was saving. She taught me about stacking and I was HOOKED! (you will notice our YTD savings to the left, we are having a competition to see who saves the most money in a year)
About 6 months after I started couponing I decided to start this blog. First and foremost please know that I DO NOT make any money off of this blog. I DO NOT get paid from any sites ie, cellfire, shortcuts, coupons.com, Amazon etc, that have those incentive programs to advertise thier site. I did look into this at one point but found that I just don't have the time for that. Yes, you will see deals that I post for many sites but I am not getting paid to due so. (disclaimer sometimes there are referral sites like groupon etc that give you referral credit when someone snags a daily deal you have referred them to, but ANYONE can do that there are no contracts etc and it is a one time only deal) Above it all, I started this blog for the simple reason of passing on information to a few of my friends and family.
You will not find me running around town trying to get all the free stuff I can get etc. like I said before I work long hours and like to spend my free time with my family. I don't have time to pick up items I won't use just to mass donate items to different charities etc. I do have one group for teen parents that I donate to from time to time as I myself was a teen parent. Out side of that EVERYTHING that I get goes to support my family. That includes both of our grown kids. I've found that its nice when they come over and say 'hey mom do you have any deodorant' or 'mom I'm outta toothpaste' and I can walk into my storage room (yes its a room, I kind of over took what my husband intended to be his MAN CAVE when Terra moved out) and grab what they need and throw in a couple of fun things for them too. Now, don't get me wrong I am not against donating etc, I simply don't have the time to chase it down. I am in more of the mind set that to help some one help themselves is much more powerful than always doing for them.
Boy I sound like a GRINCH, but I assure you I'm not.
I have made many friends along this journey of frugality and am very glad that I've found this way of living. I truly feel that I am a better person and am happier than I have ever been, though I owe that to my husband who has opened my eyes to so many things. I have learned to slow down and enjoy life. I hope that all of you can do the same.
